I’ve seen some who draw them as ponies in “Sonic style.” >>426058 >>914448 >>863259 But I’m curious why many don’t do that. I guess some Sonic fanartists aren’t good with ponies, so they make them generic hedgehog/cat things instead.

Granted neither look much like Sonic characters to begin with. (Considering they come from “expanded canons,” or A.U.)
Stephen Butler was certainly guilty of drawing the characters “to human” sometimes. (Especially, Sally.)
Good question, but there are only a few “mobian” example of horses in the Sonic Universe, one in Sonic Underground and the other in the Archie Comics.
They look like this respectively… Might be hard to find a good enough MLP Pony in that style…
Though I do have a question. Why do most artists make the ponies like Sonic? I mean, there are other anthro creatures about, so wouldn’t it make a bit more sense to make them anthro-ponies? It’s just a nit-pic though. This artist is really good, just something that makes me scratch my head.
