Yeah, even so, they’re not his art, therefore he shouldn’t put them on DA.
An image archive site like this one (Derpibooru) which archives anything would be a better place for such things.
DA is supposed to be only for art you make yourself, (or collaborated on) otherwise you have to ask the artist’s permission to put it up. (Which isn’t easy to do with copywritten images like this.)
I believe he scanned the pictures. :P Although it’s still not his art, but I don’t think he found them on Google.

I also recall, on DA you’re only supposed to upload your own art. You’re not allowed to put up copywritten images you find on Google, and they used to delete those pics. (Probably not as often now, because people don’t report ’em anymore.
