Considering it’s a dream probably nothing should be taken too seriously. After all, we WERE talking nightmares where mean books and dresses attack.
I’m not sure why Luna would use imaginary magic to attack what she felt was a very real, very dangerous creation. It’s clear in the pic she’s seriously exerting herself, as well. To me that’s the mark of a real spell.
Besides, it wasn’t until later in the episode, in the mass shared dream, where everyone started consciously using made-up dream powers. Up until that point everyone was reacting as they would in real life.
It may not have been real, but it was still awesome.
This wasn’t being badass. It was a dream.
