True enough. The Hide Your Lesbians trope was in such an obvious effect, one could just replace the words ‘best friends’ with ‘married’ and such, and you would get everyday expressions in relationships that everyone has heard if you’ve ever seen more then a few movies. (And yeah, they didn’t touch the human much more then the Dude cause EG was more DHX’s lovechild then the fandom’s. Going into Bonbon was a nice twist.)
Most of the fan stuff about Lyra wouldn’t make it in the show’s universe where the closest we get to a human reference is Doctor lampshading the Dude’s use of “man”, and the whole ‘hide your lesbians’ trope that prevents them from going further than a huge unsubtle wink to the shippers while declaring them canon ‘best friends’ even if they wanted to. (Which, not possessing the ability to determine lies or read minds, is impossible to determine)

What’s stupid about her being a spy? Spies exist, and it’s not like Bon Bon was ever elaborated on as a character in the first place.
No I doesn’t belong into a non-serious episode, because unlike a fan fiction this canon. The whole, sudden reveal about her being a spy and having a past with the bugbear that only fits into a zany comedy. It’s something I would’ve expected from a show like Family Guy or South Park but not FiM. Who knows maybe Colgate is secretly a robot and Pony Flash Sentry is actually the twin brother of human Flash who fell through the mirror?
Well than what about a non-serious episode like this? :P
Secondly what’s so stupid about it? Thanks to Pinkie in MMMMystery and Shining in Royal Wedding we do know that spies do exist and we know literally knew nothing about Bon-Bon until now so it’s not like it’s a retcon, and they don’t even just go “I’m a spy lol” they giver her a false name, gadgets, backstory for her and the organization, a clear purpose for said organization.
However, I like how they acknowledged them as “best friends”.
How do you “force” scenes in something that’s just supposed to be silly fun?
