In Ponyville Confidential, Spike’s claw approaches Rainbow’s mouth and there’s a cutaway before you see the contact. In Baby Cakes, Pumpkin Cake reaches to put the broom handle in her mouth but there’s a cutaway and no contact is made. In the animated series Beetlejuice, they cut away to a reaction shot every time the eponymous character attempted to eat an insect.

Was this shot disallowed by Standards and Practices? I remember a scene from Ren and Stimpy where a microphone accidentally went up Stimpy’s nose but was originally supposed to go in his mouth. The network leaned on it to be changed because it was deemed too phallic. This might explain Spike’s reclaimed cucumber slice not being shown along with Pumpkin Cake’s attempt to suck on the end of a broomstick.
