Yup! I always thought the whole encyclopedia thing they had was great. I wish more games expanded on their fluff that way. You could tell they were ready to make a spinoff if it had been a big hit.

Ooor you could just play a fighting game that’s more about strategising than combos, like Destrega, Psychic Force, or Evil Zone.

There’s also a subgenre of those types where you pick apart the background to throw tons of crap at the other players, such as Barbarian, Godzilla, Power Stone, and the PS1 Puyo entry (The others are puzzle games)
In order of preference I go Godzilla, Barbarian, Power Stone, Puyo, but all are good and well-made. Combos are more like, throw something at the other dude, pick something up, smack them as they’re coming down from the falling obejct, then short-short-medium-long attack. Special moves are pulled off like in Smash Bros.

Also Barbarian is pretty nifty for CONSTANTLY ABUSING THE ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE. The storyline is insanely bloody and campy and low-fantasy and the narrator is in perm capslock mode. It sounds like Brian Blessed reading a Matt Ward Warhammer novel.

V Memorizing is one thing, executing is a different thing altogether. Some games are more demanding, some less, but you may need to press up to 4-6 buttons per second continuously during particularly active fight sequences - and, more importantly, press them in the right order with perfect timing :)

Nice pic. I find Cadance’s massive girly pink controller amusing.
I’m not very good with fighting games either honestly, due to the rediculous “button-masher/combo” control scheme. (Unless they’re a fighter like Smash Bros. with a more simpler, and easier to understand control scheme.)

How do you play those games? It’s like having to memorize a bunch of cheat-codes for every characters “special” moves, and such.
“Press back, back A, B, forward, X, Y, Circle, Square, diagonal, B, B, and C to throw a hadoken!”
I don’t get how you mememorize moves like that, and such.
