Double Diamond is the very first pure-white pony on the show. Surely, they can make a pure-black pony as well.
Also look how dark Thunderlane’s outlines are. Thunderlane’s coat is not dark enough for him to be functionally black.
He’s functionally black. It’d be pretty aesthetically unappealing for a pure-black pony in a colorful pastel world to exist. That’s why all those red/black Donut Steels are such eyesores.
