What hasn’t We’ve clearly seen the Sunbutt raise the Sun on several occasions in the Show. Like that flash-back Ep S01E23 - Cutie Mark Chronicles Where Filly Twilight witnessed her actually raising the Sun on the Day of the Solar Sun Celebration. So it must be canon!
