The making money, I get. But I pretty much agree with him on harem anime, especially if the harem is the whole point of the series.
Ranma 1/2 was more about the humour than the harem and No Need For Tenchi had a pretty compelling story. I think I’d rather have more anime like Seitokai Yakuindomo, where some girls develop an interest in the main character over time rather than all at once.
That, and I find it hilarious.
If I remember correctly, he was talking about the moeblob**, waifubait** and harem anime, and felt that the industry went to shit because all they care is about attracting otakus and making money.
No, those aren’t actual terms, I just came up with them.
