Fen, if this picture fails to make you care about it, then why do you even feel the need to tell that to everyone? Because that really seems that you actually do care but are just trying to play some weird role here.

It’s an understandable response to the image. If it’s has to be in character to suit your tastes, noone can really tell you otherwise.

It is a cute picture though, I’ll give it that.
 
I guess I should stop getting so hung up on the ‘THIS NEEDS TO BE TOTALLY IC!!!’ rule I have.

Though admittedly, I don’t notice most of the responses. I don’t really go back to pictures often, since I’m not looking for arguments so I don’t lurk on pics to see if I get responses. So I really never knew people reacted this negatively until today and that was sheer coincidence of me clicking the same pic twice.
 
I seriously can’t see why people would get annoyed at what I say, they’re just my opinions I don’t try and make them seem like fact or force them down their throat. I guess I’ll try and hold my tongue more though.

@Fenwolf: Ah, I think there’s some miscommunication going on here. By “fail” you meant “it failed to fulfil its purpose of being comedic”?
 
In places like this, most users will assume you meant the “crap” variation more commonly found in online discussions, which made you seem like blowing it off as a crap picture.

This ‘most of the time you just bash the art’ bit is really being hammered, but I’ve looked back through my comments. Most AREN’T bashing.
 
I was a proof reader for the WTG on DA when it ran, and I helped on Ponychan with proof reading a few times. So I do give advice on art. I give advice on art here too, just people seem to remember the negative more than the positive. z.z

The hell does being Irish mean anything? Every nation should have everyone speaking their mind. It’s good to speak your mind, but when it comes to artistry, you have to try and help the person if they have potential. Most of the time you just bash the art.

I point out the character is OOC to me, so it fails.
 
What I said means the same thing as what you put, just it isn’t spelt out in crayon for everyone.
 
I didn’t enjoy the picture because it’s OOC. I never said it was ‘crap’. It’s good art, I just said it fails because of the OOC.

If you’d said you couldn’t enjoy it because the OOCness ruined the comedic aspect of the image instead of simply blowing it off as a crap picture, that’d be something. But you didn’t.

Yeah you’re right, I do post negative stuff. On pics that are either obviously offensive, obviously OOC, obviously inflammatory or just plain bad.

Having two character in a pic, one being totally IC, you’d expect the other to be as well. So it less screams “Oh, he’s trying to be funny.” it more seems “Oh, he just didn’t understand the character”
 
This is hardly a massive point. I don’t get why people can’t just say “I disagree with your point, I think FS IS in character.” or “Eh, I don’t think he wanted total accuracy.”
 
I stated my opinion and left. I’m only back and this whole argument/debate is only happening because I replied to a guy calling me a fucking idiot. Which I hardly think I’m much to blame for. I only was leaving my opinion just like everyone else z.z

You’ve just cherry picked there. I stated, “Well unless the person has expressly stated that their fan work is trying to remain as in character as possible and they slip up.”
 
And I highly, highly doubt that the artist did that for a picture like this.

@Fenwolf: Calling someone’s work a “fail picture” simply because it doesn’t conform to the in-show accuracy that you’d expect from the actual MLP marketing team (if they were actually competent) is worthy of being called a “fucking idiot”, imo.

I’d rather see a character put in that situation but STILL be IC. Like this picture. Twi and FS get picked to be the cheerleaders? That’s a funny enough idea. Why can’t it have Twi like she is (fine and IC), but with FS naerly hiding behind her mumbling out a ‘Yay…’ or something? It just seems weird having one character totally IC and one OOC.
 
You mention the person slipping up and that’s when I should point it out. That’s what I DID. He kept Twi totally IC but he didn’t with FS, it seems weird havign one in and one out.
 
I’ve seen good pics and fics with folks totally OOC, because they were meant to be. Just this one didn’t seem like that because of how Twi was.
 
So I don’t see what problem I caused by pointing it out. Why is this the pic I get in trouble with 2 mods over when I was the one some random person started an argument with?

Take a look at your comment history, man. Whenever you comment on an image, 9/10 chance it’s “this is shit”, “the artist is an idiot” or “this is the worst thing the fandom has ever produced”.
 
This is just the most recent image on the board. The attitude is getting old and it’s quite obviously aimed at stirring up shit. That, or you really are the most bitter person in the fandom and don’t realize it, somehow.

Ok look, fan art doesn’t have to be 100% in character all the time. If it were it there would be no point. Half the fun in making fan art is putting the characters in situations that are silly, ridiculous, badass, etc. Otherwise there’d be no point in having a fandom in the first place IMO.

It’s stunning that saying a character was out of character somehow equals ‘whining like a brat’ here.
