How was Pinkie any less relevant to the plot in “Castle Mane-ia” or “Trade Ya” than she was in “Over a Barrel” and “The Best Night Ever”? And you are aware that “The Return of Harmony” was written, animated, edited, and otherwise finished alongside season 1, while Lauren Faust was still present with the crew and running the show, right?

I happen to like Pinkie too, her best moments have really been some of the best parts of the series.

Not S1. And I never said she was absolutely perfect in S2, I explicitly said there were some S2 instances of “randumb pinkie”.
 
If you can’t see the difference between S1 Pinkie and S4 Pinkie, then I can only assume you’re not paying attention at all, because the difference between them is night and day. One is silly and lighthearted, a loveable loon, per se. The other screeches half her lines and brings scenes to a grinding halt just to crack a stupid joke.

So you prefer the Randumb-Pinkie, then? Because TLR was the first major instance of her being written as over-the-top randumb and screaming and making stupid jokes for the sake of making stupid jokes.

Pinkie Pie was practically unlikeable throughout the first season. It’s telling that early on they had to put her against someone like Gilda to make her even look like the protagonist. And as late as the S2 premiere, she was practically Discord’s willing stooge even before he turned her grey. Only in “The Last Roundup” did she finally even move above most of the background characters and into my top six favorite ponies.
 
(Not that she didn’t have specific moments. Even unlikeable, she was pretty hot in her saloon dress or gala outfit, or with her pinkamena mane.)

It’s actually hard to use Filli Vanilly as an example in these arguments, just because she was so ridiculously out of tune with her friend’s feelings (Fluttershy was the pony she refused to play pranks on because she was too sensitive) and her own nature of making them happy.  
There are episodes where she’s a bit more obnoxious than called for, then there’s that one where she’s an over the top ass.

I don’t mind Pinkie from “Over a Barrel”, “The Best Night Ever”, “The Return of Harmony”, and any Pinkie from S03, S04. EXCEPT for that OoC jerk from Filli Vanilli.

Does the “drama” tag apply to any image that causes squabbling in the comments, or should it be restricted to images meant to upset one side or the other of an issue?

Remember “Over a Barrel”? Remember Pinkie encoring her song at the worst possible time after it had gone over like a lead balloon during her first performance?
 
Remember “The Best Night Ever”? Remember what Pinkie did to the dance and the quartet playing there?
 
Remember “The Return of Harmony”? Remember how Pinkie ditched her friends twice for chocolate rain?
 
If those scenes had happened in season 4, they’d be described as sufficient proof that Pinkie had been flanderized into a scatterbrained ditz for the sake of cheap jokes.

Pinkie only started being an obnoxious spaz in a couple S2 episodes, and then all throughout S3 and S4.
 
Look at S1 Pinkie, and you’ll see a silly, lighthearted pony.  
Look at S4 Pinkie, and you’ll see a screeching idiot that is constantly cracking random jokes and being random for comic relief.

Have you considered that these things are related? Spike being comic relief/punching bag? Blame the writers. Pinkie’s being an obnoxious spazz? Well if its not that she’s written badly not, she’s always been like that, then blame her directly.
