He was unfortunate enough to get more screen time than strictly necessary before some of the main characters had been developed. Naturally, this wasn’t well-received. He’s fast improving though.

Yeah, about time. I mean, we always knew he was gonna be a decent fighter eventually, RWBY runs on tropes like that. From his carrying a shield, Pyrrha’s description of his high aura, and the suggestion of fast healing ability, I figure his role as an RPG character would be “meatshield,” which is a respectable role for a team leader.
