Really, the word “Evil” is “Live” spelled backwards. There isn’t anything wrong with life, but there is everynothing wrong with nothing. Mistaking the two is where people get confused (con-fused) and illusion isn’t real.
Don’t say that. You’re going to make a curtain time lord angry at you.
THE WORD “MUFFINS” IS OFFENSIVE! It’s an evil immoral food product that poor helpless women are forced to make by their evil, white, cis-male, oppressors! :P
See? Anything can be offensive. (Now I’m reminded of that satirical “offensive ponies” blog.)

You know what, going by “What the fans ‘want’” isn’t a good idea. Though at the same time, I can imagine people doing crazy things if given opportunity to do them yet there’s not even a reason for it so at some points I see reason for censorship. But I’ve also read accounts from people (Including those with disabilities, if you can call “disabilities” that) saying they’re perfectly fine with Derpy being named as such, but merely searching to find some definition that at its base is full of hatred? Like I just read at the link Beau Skunky posted, A little kid (And I say, anyone who’s doing something stupid) could “make”* something as innocent as “Muffins” sound offensive. It’s pointless.
Also, I was talking in another section of Derpibooru where someone said “I hardly believe in the word ‘Equality’ anymore because of how much people have used it” and then I said “The same can be said for any word if the person doesn’t understand it. It’s not as if the word itself where in good use doesn’t have value, but in misuse and abuse it’s all like people jotting down numbers in a Sudoku puzzle improperly. Yeah, I think people took it out of context. I just thought “derp” was refering to the whole “crossed-eyes” meme personally, and that’s how she got that name.
Surprisingly the new Nick TMNT show got away with using the term “derp,” when Mickey nicknamed the crazed mutant-clone of April the “April Derp.” (And nobody complained about it.)
People love taking that quote out of context. She was told Derpy was ‘ableist’ from a few e-mails and had to be directed to find some obscure definition somewhere on the web with people declaring it’s offensive. She, like almost everyone else in the world did not believe it was offensive previously.

Countless yet there were only like 10 complaining in comparison to the 200 praising Derpy’s inclusion in S2Ep14 in someone’s email folder. I heard it some time back in an interview with one of the writers (to my recollection) of the show.
I guess they’re afraid to call her either “Derpy,” or “Ditzy” now.

Yeah, I agree, though “Muffins” doesn’t really suit her to me. “Bubbles” or “Ditzy” might’ve been better.
Of course, she’ll always be our beloved li’l “Derpster” regardless what she’s called.

And, why can’t Derpy just be known as Derpy? Besides the stupid nonsense that occurred when her name was originally said.
I prefer this to having her declared an unpony.
All that bullshit being countless of people calling out the bullshit that Derpy would in any way be offensive :P
