Starswirl stood before the Sirens, having worked alongside his apprentice Clover the Clever to develop a spell that would temporarily block their powers. But that countermeasure was only a quick fix. As long as they had the gems that gave them their power, the Sirens would always be able to try again, using the magic of Equestria to feed themselves. Perhaps in another world, a world without magic, the gems could be removed safely, but, in Equestria, the gems were part of them, now. To think, they were once such innocent ponies, whose singing brought joy to the hearts of everypony. He mentally cursed himself over his role in this. When he gave them the medallions, he had hoped that the gems would help them spread harmony throughout Equestria, but, instead, the power corrupted the poor creatures. Watching them with a gaze that displayed his prodigious age, he prepared to cast his spell.
 
As he set the coordinates for the spell he would cast on his immobile targets, Sonata and Aria, the two younger ones, stared in confusion, unaware of what he was doing, but, Adagio was smarter. She growled at him, attempting to lunge, but he kept his course as he said, “Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze, Sonata Dusk. For your crimes against Equestria, you are hereby banished from our world, cursed to exist in a world where there is no magic to fuel your spells, with no means of return.
