Oh, I think I misunderstood something here; I meant that the Don Bluth style was popular starting with The Secret of NIMH, not that his style had started shifting more towards the Disney look back then.

“Rotoscoping” has actually been around long before the ‘80s. Nowadays they just use CGI for that kinda 3D effect.
 
And yeah, Mrs. Brisby doesn’t look anything like a Disney mouse. Granted Don Bluth got his start at Disney, but his movies tend to be alot darker, but still have a certain “cuteness” about them.

In a way, it kinda is. Compare an old ‘80s Don Bluth movie, to a Disney movie. Bluth’s movies do have a unique art/animation style. (Before executive-meddling in the ’90s started forcing him to make his movies more “Disney-like.”)
