Everyone is focused on Ryuko and Mako… BUT WHY HAS NO ONE MADE A LINKIN PARK JOKE?!

I have a theory: Brenda Hickey is an anime/manga fan (otaku).

I put forward pony-style names for pony-Ryuko and pony-Mako to Brenda Hickey herself:  
Maroon Render: Maroon is a shade of red (like the streak in her hair/mane/tail), and is also a term referring to being abandoned (fitting the fact that Ryuko’s name could translate to “abandoned child”). Render is used in the sense of “one who rends”, which is what she does. Her father did not have great naming sense.  
Madcap Mediation: Madcap comes from how cuckoo Mako comes across as in the show, and Mediation comes from her attempts to negotiation to resolve differences conducted by some impartial party. Plus, “Mediation” is an unusually hifalutin name for a slums-girl, like Mankanshoku was for Mako.
