Description

From an /mlp/ thread last night. We were fooling around with the Color/Hue settings in Photoshop or Gimp, attempting to come up with alternate color palattes for ponies. Here’s an example I came up with where you “rotate” the color wheel by 60-degree steps. Each step changes the primary colors the pony’s palatte is based on, for example, red –> yellow –> green –> cyan –> blue –> magenta. I thought the effect was kind of amusing.

Hue is simpler than you think.

–Applejack and Rainbow Dash’s coats are almost on opposite sides of the color wheel, so yeah, when one’s green the other’s purple and vice-versa.

–On the other hand, Applejack and Fluttershy have coats that are fairly close to one another on the color wheel, so they look similar no matter how far off you adjust the hue. (Applejack’s mane is almost exactly the same hue as Fluttershy’s coat, and therefore matches it at every hue adjustment.)

–Rarity’s coat is nearly pure white, so there’s little that can change. It looks the almost same no matter how you adjust the hue.

I can see I understand nothing about hue. Applejack is green, Rainbow is purple. Rainbow is green, Applejack is purple. Applejack and Flutter are incredibly similar. Rarity’s coat never changes. I’ve forgotten the opposite of Metal Gear Solid 4. XD
