They are meant to be used as pressure instead of pain devices, but the bit rests on the sensitive bars (a space between the incisors and the back molars where there are no teeth) of a horse’s mouth and most bits are made from metal. Moving back and forth it can hit their teeth quite easily.
Unless a rider can give very gentle signals with the rains it’s going to be painful.
Just imagine a piece of metal (like a spoon’s handle), in your mouth, being pulled on or worse, yanked on from behind your head :(
The bit-free design shown in the image is still perfectly good for riding and much less painful even in inexperienced hands.
well horses are used to it i guess
unless they are always in pain cause then that sucks :\
I myself am glad that the artist didn’t include a bit. Lot of people don’t know how painful it actually is.
Unless you make it detached from the bridle/reins and out of plastic, sort of like a ball-gag. Then it might be fun :)
bridle, nice hooves, reins, good butt <3 i am so happy i wish she had a bit on her bridle tho :)
