i think the reason that is, is because red and orange don’t look good as human skin colors, in fact, none of the ponies have the same skin color that matches their coat color, since lightened skin color looks more appealing to the eyes, hence hasbro wants to come off with a more pastel, soft, and friendly look

Normal Norman and the unnamed American Football athlete have normal everything, Applejack is a tanned blonde, and Flash Sentry, Nolan North have normal colored skin but Technicolor Hair.

Applejack’s family is good and old fashioned. They don’t use none of those cosmetic nanoprocedures that are so popular these days. Only exception is using nanos for medical reasons like to counteract Granny Smith’s Parkinson’s or Appleblooms white blood cell deficiency. After all, God knows what would happen if somebody hacked the residual nano-machines. They could turn you into some kind of tiny horse or something.

For some reason, it reminds me of Homestuck’s “Caucasian / Peachy drama” from nearly two years ago (I thought it was a pretty funny joke, sadly it poked (fun at) the SJW hornet’s nest a tad too hard).

red and yellow is a very common hairstyle, people either dye their hair red or blonde. I don’t see it much where I live, but I have seen a few girls with Sunset Shimmer’s same hairstyle.

It’s not unusual for a girl to dye some colored stripes into her hair. So, SS could be a redhead with blonde dye, or a blonde with red dye.

Pretty sure there’s some BG ponies with natural colors, for ponies, as saying natural ‘human’ colors makes sense, though her colors fit ponies too.  
I couldn’t name the BG ponies as the fandom has decided to stop caring about more than roughly 12 of them.

While the choice of Equestrian Girl skin color was a matter of being race-neutral, no one would question Applejack being white.
