Rarity can’t help but chortle as Rainbow Dash tells her of the ups and downs of having a newborn foal because she remembers her own mishaps all too well - including a few incredulous and teasing comments made by Rainbow Dash herself at the time.
Lavender meanwhile is very curious about Ponyville’s newest little citizen, Lockheed.

Carnifex, you magnificent bastard, this is gorgeous. This is officially Better Than Canon.
I’ve trawled enough FIMfic(R) to get the impression that 90% lowballs it.

No matter who gets hooked up to produce second/third/fifteenth-generation descendant(s), most artists seem to find the mash-parents’-traits-together phase of character creation much easier than fleshing ’em out in an interest-conducive fashion.
Loling out loud.
eh i don’t think there is a definitive guide on how to make a good OC… what you have listed might be true for people like you, but i have different opinions ;)
deviantart is a different story because it is filled with little girls using MS Paint :P
You misunderstand. A ‘hybrid’ is, bu default, no more creative than any other kind of pony. Look up some other Sparity foals on DA to see some truly uninspired designs.
They are creative because they have a unique, interesting and intelligent design, and because they are good characters.
At least in the case of Lavender.

Haha I thought the same thing but the truth is that hybrids are considered “super creative” and thus popular
I don’t get Sparity either, but whatever floats people’s boat.
Don’t you think your selling them both a little bit short?
I’m sure most of Ponyville simply adores Spike after he turned gigantic and went on a looting/pillaging spree practically destroying the city.
Rarity is just the crazy cat lady/stuck up fashionista that most ponies are able to begrudgingly put up with.
Protected from mass public ridicule, sure…but I could still see plenty of leery looks & caustic commentary behind closed doors (or at school…kids ain’t known for airtight filters). Ponyville’s the provincial town that used to get weird over a zebra, and the highest-profile hybrid prior to Lavender here would be Discord.
The ones in Ponyville who consider Lavender an abomination are either not that close to the Mane 6 circle or they are travellers just passing by.
Isn’t it also the name of the plane company?
Right, Kitty Pryde’s sassy miniature dragon…who, in turn, was named after the company that built the team’s snazzy stealth transport plane.
Another ‘truism’ I regard with extreme skepticism.
In other news, here’s waiting for Lock to do his best Patriot missile impression upon eye contact with Lavender, swaddling be hanged. At least Dashie’s reflex-save skills should remain finely honed.
Well as I say drunks and fools are always happy.
Hell, when does love make ‘sense’ IRL? All the ‘smart’ (or arranged, state-mandated, etc.) matches in history guaranteed nothing re: couples’ actual happiness.
True but despite that Spike and Rarity still made it work.
Yes, those do happen. Not only from feedings, but from changes & just holding & comfort times.
