Well, considering that the only real reason hey did it was to justify writing Spike out of the episode, I doubt we’ll get anything like that… as proper and fitting as it would be.
That animatic got me thinking: With the revelation that Spike and Mac are apparently friends off-screen, we need another episode ala “Just for Sidekicks” but focused on Spike spending a day with his non-Mane 6 friends.
It was a sign of trust that Big Mac let him “borrow” Smarty Pants. With the two of them going to hoofball games together (as implied by the Season 5 animatic) Spike might finally be getting a male role model in his life, and it would be a positive development.
