Oh, boo hoo.
@Background Pony #269F
Disney Marketing. Disney may not always make the best movies, but they know exactly how to market something for maximum audience appeal.
I would also add that I think Frozen got the same boost from the catchy “Let It Go” (arguably a very untraditional musical song), as “Titanic” got from “My Heart Will Go On”.
I’m not disputing it has more going for it than “Let It Go”; as I said, I like the movie too. I’m just wondering how it got to be so wildly popular. Tangled managed some terrific twists on its old fairy-tale storyline as well.
To be fair, it has a lot more going for it than just “Let it Go”. A few clever twists on the traditional fairy tale and the fact that it is very beautifully animated and the fact that Olaf (the snowman-thing) isn’t just pointless, stupid comic relief make it enjoyable. However, I do hate the fact that a lot of people who like it tend to push it in everyone’s face and go “Why don’t you like it? Why don’t you like it? You should like it. Everyone should like it”. It is a very good movie, but there are other movies that are much better, like Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast like you mentioned.
(Personally, I never liked The Lion King or The Jungle Book, which have two of the largest popularity ratings, and of both combined I only like one song.)
Dunno if this is the best place to bring this up, but… I don’t understand the wild popularity of Frozen. I mean, it’s a good movie, and I enjoyed it, but I’d put it on the same level as Bolt, and distinctly below Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph. Is it just because of “Let It Go”?
(Reminds me of 20 years ago, actually, when The Lion King was far more popular and successful than Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, which I thought were better movies.)
Which is why comic Winona is so awesome (seriously she steals the scenes for me)
Not just the braids but the freckles. Also, Amy Mebberson’s been on a Frozen kick lately.
Indeed. I’d be more convinced if I saw a cutie mark, but here there’s none.
