Why? Wouldn’t you want the already tried and tested writers working on this? Writers that have already proven to be capable at writing a sitcom with mythology on the side?
Handing the whole project over to another production company just to satiate the six people in the room who go gaga over anything from Japan is going to be a terrible move on their part.
But who would do the character designs? Range Murata, Shirow Masamune, Masami Ohbari (and his penchant for women’s anteriors), Nobuhiro Watsuki of Rurouni Kenshin fame, Rumiko Takahashi, Ken Akamatsu, Studio CLAMP? Perhaps the character designer from the Persona video games, Shigenori Soejima, is most qualified.
They might turn it into Love Live! Idol Project but why not, right?

I guess it’s a nice change of pace from the usual drama we get whenever a new character is introduced. (Though, at least Sunset Shimmer seems more accepted now, then she was a year ago.)
