Blast! You beat me to it!
Man, I know that feeling. The Nutcracker in 3D was definitely this for me. Yeah, the one from 2010 with the Nazi/Holocaust imagery. The one with the songs made out of themes from the Nutcracker ballet. The one with a 0% on RT. I like this movie a lot, and I didn’t think I would, considering its…less than stellar reviews. I dunno, the acting was great; the effects were good, especially since I’m not a huge fan of CGI; the story was fine; the songs weren’t terrible, and I even liked the Nazi/Holocaust metaphor. Then again, I like family movies that model their tone after the Grimm fairy tales, and this one definitely does. It’s not the greatest family movie under the sun (some scenes are a bit too intense for really young kids,) but it sure as heck deserves better than 0%. 7, maybe 8/10, if I were to rate it.
That was me when I went to go see Resident Evil Apocalypse. At the last minute I had a premonition it was going to suck, so I darted into the theater next door where The Forgotten was playing. It had these like guys who would go BUAAAAAGGGGHHH!!! and shoot way up into the air for like no reason I could find and, if I remember correctly, this stretchy-mouth man who was like “FORGET!!!1!” (the plot involved making this woman forget her son for some reason) at the end, and she was like “lolnope” and then he got BUAAAAAGGGGHHHHHed into the air and the movie ended.
My face the entire time was just pure da…faq…?
(It was okay; definitely watchable, unlike REA).
*wasn’t intrigued.
I know man, I was ready for this flick to be ok minus a scene or two like the first, but between Sunny, the sirens, and the song, I’d be lying if I said I was a little intrigued.
Or a kid at a fireworks show.
Or a mosquito on a porch.
