Yeah, my idea was they need to do this because Discord fucked up the planet so bad during his reign. Of course, I also treat the story of the uniting of the tribes as allegory.
My thought, too, actually… Some sort of magic-field around the planet drags on its spin, so Celestia has to keep it spinning, and Luna has to keep the Moon’s orbit from decaying.
I actually like to think they’re not
actuallymoving the heavenly bodies, but rotating Equestria, the planet.How many calories does it burn to raise the sun?… :p
If it’s actually the size and distance of our sun, and she moves it through the sky in even 5* of arc, it will probably be on the order of 1038 if not many orders of magnitude larger.

I remember a year ago, I even predicted Season 5 was going to have a “Luna meets AppleBloom in dream land” episode. (After having Scootaloo & Sweetie Belle, it was quite obvious.)

In all seriousness, though, that sounds great, actually. Curtains would probably unfurl in her thrashing (involuntary response to hanging), or after she falls unconscious but before she dies, and stabbing has a very poor success rate for suicide.
And on the other hoof, living with Sweetie Belle means she’d almost certainly overhear thrashing (hanging) or screaming (stabbing), which means she’d probably get rescued and get appropriate medical and psychiatric care.

She could probably hang herself with the curtains. Wrap them around the neck enough it could probably support her long enough.

In that state of mind, there’s no way she’d be able to tie a proper knot.
The only reason it didn’t happen in the episode itself was because of the rating. She very clearly lost her mind completely.
We got quite a few chubby-chasers in the fandom it seems. :P
