I agree – that would make a pretty interesting concept… I could even envision a story involving getting the Element-Bearers back together one last time, after they’d gone their separate ways.
 
 
Why don’t people use the human CMCs’ hairstyles when drawing older pony CMCs? Well, speaking for myself at least, it never even occurred to me to ask whether a human hairstyle might look good on a horse! But the CMCs’ human hairstyles, at least, do suit their pony selves…
 
Now I’m wondering how many other EqG characters’ hairstyles suit their pony counterparts.

It would be interesting if they did say a “temporary time-skip” or AU episode set in the future, or something.
 
Surprised more artists haven’t yet thought of using that hairdo when drawing “older” versions of her. (Or using Applebloom’s longer EqG hairdo, as well.)

I really hope we get to see her like this, grown up and having her cutie mark, in the main show…
