Actually, now that I look closer, she seems more embarrassed than angry. With color, she’d be blushing.

Makes sense for dragon/mare mixups; I can see Sprits of Chaos(TM) being distinctly weirder. For all we know, the Cabbage Stork(R) could be a thing for neonate draconequorns.

No one’s stopping you. You might need to ask Kilala for permission (they are her characters, after all), and you can’t say that it’s canon in any way (because Claire/Illusion is already canon, and since she’s the artist, she gets to decide what is and isn’t “canon” for her characters).
 
But other than that, ship them however you like.

Pony’s don’t have the proper reproductive organs to produce eggs. Dragons are the ones that can, in mythology, bang with anything. Therefore, it would seem likely that the method of birth is directly related to the mother’s race.

Well, a lot of the differences can be explained by the idea that the sparity kids are true dragon/pony hubrids and illusion is half draconequus, which is a completely different species than dragons, despite perhaps some hints of common ancestory.
 
That being said, I think it’s kind of a toss-up; draconequui seem to be more mammalian than reptile, so perhaps illusion was live-birthed ad the Kirin children all hatched…but then again I can’t possibly imagine rarity laying not one but three eggs… And an alicorn princess laying an egg just feels so chaotic, so narratively appropriate for the “son of discord” to have been brought into the world…  
So I guess you could pick between “sounds right for the characters” or “fits the biological profile of the world I’m building onto”, whatever suits your palette :P

I’ve been wondering, since they seem to be different amounts of pony and dragon in each of them, could one of them maybe have hatched instead of being a live birth?
