Though, if it’s true, I wouldn’t be surprised if word of it didn’t spread much at the con itself. If there even was an orgy, I’m doubting a huge amount of people attended.
 
Still, it at least explains the meme.

Been hearing about this all day, and the peed-in ballpit came up over and over again. As did the $17000 money scamming. But this is the first time I’ve heard anything about crabs. I get the feeling that was made up afterwords, as no actual con-goer had mentioned crabs from what I’ve seen.

Dug a little deeper. Seems it’s quite likely both the pee and the ball-pit and crabs outbreak are quite real.

Basically a “tumblr” convention that went to hell due to mismanagement and probably no small amount of scamming. The major guests bowed out because they weren’t paid or weren’t paid in time (kind of complicated in some cases, it looks like). So instead of “Welcome to Night Vale” showing up, everyone got the worlds saddest ball-pit and a bounce house.
 
Those who paid extra for good seats to see WTNV over the already obscenely high ticket price of $65 got an extra hour in the ball-pit.
 
Seems someone peed in the ball-pit at some point (possibly just a rumor, but from what I understand, there’s a fair amount of substance to it). Also there’s a related rumor of people getting crabs from going in the ball-pit.

They named a con for Tumblr after dashboards. As in the very generic name for the interface on your screen when you interact with a computer program.
 
I’m thinking it pays to avoid a con that can’t even think up a distinctive, relevant name.

It just wasn’t exclusively “brony.” The “Dash” part of the name is refering to “Dashboards,” not “Rainbow Dash.”

Just to clarify: Dashcon, aside from the name, didn’t actually have anything to do with bronies? It was actually an event for Tumblr?
