Not quite the same. Rather, it’s his right hand drawing his left onto his wrist, which is sitting on a piece of paper (Dad has both hands, though, so it’s just part of the art).

Possibly inspired by Escher’s “Amazing Hands”, too.
Oh, I know Escher. I’ve got pictures of Lego re-creations of Relativity, Castrovalva, Ascending, Belvedere, and Waterfall.
But the guy drawing his own hand I was talking about onto a sheet of paper was actually done by my dad. It’s possible he was imitating an existing piece of art, though.
Yea, those are famous M.C. Escher drawings. Look him up sometime.
The pictures you’re talking about sound a lot like M.C. Escher. Did some really weird paintings and drawings back in his day.
My dad has a picture of an artist drawing himself in the reflection of a sphere.
He also has a drawing of his own wherein he’s drawing his hand. As in, one of his hands is purely a drawing being done by his other hand.
