And you’re entitled to that, as I am entitled to my decision to write around the show.
Makes sense, I suppose. I still don’t think it’s good to try and incorporate OCs in one’s headcanons. I don’t have anything against OCs, I have a few myself, but I’d prefer some divide between what the show shows and what the fans have created. This is also essentially why I don’t treat the comics’ canon as being the same as the shows as it’s essentially officially licensed fan-fiction. Not that that’s a bad thing; I’m just saying my opinion here.
Oh no, Luna won’t be completely absolved, because in this case it would prevent Luna from succumbing in the first place.
She had issues by the time Nightmare turned up, who, BTW, knows Luna rather well and thus knows what buttons to push.
Basically, Luna’s guilt is over being so weak as to succumb rather than by challenging Celestia and all that.
Honestly, I think that kind of headcanon is pretty lazy, basically depriving Luna of any actual growth as well as essentially making everything not her fault, which just misses the point entirely. Even just “external force exacerbates Luna’s problems” would at least make more sense, but just saying, “Hey, guys, it’s okay, the actual Luna wouldn’t do that,” it just cheapens the whole ordeal and robs Luna of much of her depth.
Though really, concerning the populace, I don’t think they turned against her. I think it was Luna mostly living in Celestia’s shadow considering she had night duties and well, most everyone was asleep at night so they couldn’t really express any “love of the night” or just took it for granted. So it was more or less jealously and a feeling of inadequacy on Luna’s part I believe is what drove her to become Nightmare Moon.
I figured you were talking about something else, but it seemed close enough that my theory was at least mildly relevant.
However, now I’m curious about how you combined the two.
Hmm… Well, I did have an idea for my version of the EqG world that essentially made NMM and the Tantibus one and the same, but that’s only in the EqG world.
What I was talking about above, though, was this.
If E25 explains the formation of a Nightmare, I doubt I’ll be able to sleep due to all the incessant blather that will culminate in my notifications. XD
In theory, couldn’t Nightmare Moon have started as a part of Luna and become a separate entity at some point? After all, we already know of one nightmare entity that Luna created.
While I’m simply going to leave it undecided as to whether Sombra’s Fear Door played a role in Luna’s fall, I will say that I subscribe to the “Nightmare Moon is a separate entity” headcanon and that I incorporated a certain OC from Bonaxor’s Team Awesome who is relevant to the whole matter entirely in that she is ultimately to blame for both Luna’s actual fall as well as the populace of the time turning against her.
Actually, I think losing the Crystal Empire and the incident with Nightmare Moon might have happened around the same time, the events pertaining to the Crystal Empire probably serving as a catalyst or perhaps worsening Luna’s condition to allow her to become Nightmare Moon. Though, this all happening ~500 years after their ascension to the throne I think makes sense.
Just last year, Luna was sent away for the whole Nightmare Moon thing.
@Celestia’s Servant
Mugen: Yeah, try putting up with it. The nobility spawned from this because Tia was compromised and I do NOT trust myself with power, even if it’s just filling in for someone while they’re away or recovering.
Or maybe all of them would be, there’s like four of them, it could all fit.
Isn’t that sweet? Luna and Celestia are celebrating Luna’s birthday and started the count since they banished Nightmare Moon. . . Oh.
Who says it’s Celestia’s birthday?
“What was that, subject?”
