Yeah, you have a point. Supes had no choice really.
@igotnopicks
It always mystifies me why Supes killing Zod gets such hate. I mean…what else was he supposed to do? Zod made it quite clear that if left alone he’d just become a one man apocalypse for mankind, and there wasn’t any way the government could have contained him, especially since kryptonite hasn’t been discovered in that timeline yet, and they’d just used up the only means of sending him back to the Phantom Zone. Really…it was the only thing he could do without letting the death toll rise more than it already had…
I’m not against Superman killing Zod, I just think what happened to Zod in Superman 2 could be interpritated in different ways. (We don’t actually see Zod, and his cronies die. So as a kid I didn’t even assume they did.)
Also, to be fair, he didn’t want to kill Zod in “Man of Steel,” but was left with no choice. Still, at least they made it so he didn’t enjoy killing like the comic version.
Funny thing is, in the original comics he wasn’t always a “perfect boyscout” either.
IT STILL DIDN’T HAPPEN.
If it happens in the theatrical release then it’s okay. But it was cut from that. So technically Superman killing Zod did happen. Not edits or anything like that. Superman didn’t show any remorse killing off Zod and his minions.
Unlike the Man of Steel version. LOUD SCREAM and then superman works at Daily Planet. Now I’m not saying that Man of Steel is an awful movie with an awful Superman. It’s just that Superman killing Zod happened before in Comics and in Superman 2 before the Director’s cut. So continue…
It was restored in the “Richard Donner” cut of the movie on DVD.
*Lex Luthor invariably becomes good after staring into filly Applejack’s face for two seconds*
DELETED SCENE:MEANING IT NEVER HAPPENED IN THE ACTUAL MOVIE!!!
In regards to the second movie, Superman didn’t kill Zod in it, there was a deleted scene where after they fell out of the “Fortress of solitude” they were picked up by police afterwords. I think it was in the Richard Donner cut of the movie.
You have a point, but I think it’s fair to say the old movies still made it clear Superman was the good guy in all those cases. He was likeable. With the reboot, he’s not so much likeable anymore. I don’t want Superman to have a dark and gritty past to explain why he chooses to be a hero. He’s suppose to be a boy scout, an icon for everything that’s stereotypically seen as good or just. Batman handles the dark shit.
Again, it’s just my own opinion on all this. There’s very few Superman movies, animated or not, that I actually enjoy.
Also, why is kryptonite a flaw in the first movie?
Every Superman Movie has it’s flaws.
Superman:LUTHOR IS EVIL and Kryptonite.
Superman 2:Superman kills Zod(You know our hero kills villains and doesn’t show any remorse)
Superman 3: That cover spreads terror and fear.
Superman 4:Do I have to say it.
Super Returns:OH GOD THAT KID!
Man Of Steel:It’s okay and at least it tried to be Batman with Superman, not like it was going to work anyways.
@Sirius-Face
Eh, I enjoyed both movies personally. My only complaint was at times they tried to make “Man of Steel” a li’l to dark, (and destructive/edgy) and the hero was a bit angsty at first, but as the story goes on, he becomes more like the light-hearted hero.
One thing I liked about it was they made General Zod more of a villain, and gave him more reason/motivation to be one. In the original Superman 2, he pretty much had no reason to be a dick, and such, and seemed like a pretty shallow villain to me.
There was really nothing good about that movie. Not one god damn thing. >.<
Be sure to raise her right so we get the good Christopher Reeve-esque Supermare, not the destroy everything Man of Steel Supermare
