Not just that one, but yeah it’s rather ironic to have bronies giving me crap for being a “Sanik” fan. (Especially, with all the heat the brony fandom gets.)
 
I’m not even as “obsessive” with Sanik as people assume, as I haven’t really played the more recent games, (aside from “Lost World” for 3DS which wasn’t bad, so I don’t buy that “Only Sonic 1 is good” bull) I also no longer subscribe to the comics, (though I still enjoy them occasionally) and I’m honestly more into Super Mario.

It smells like old bullshit.

That is old drama. Having been part of one community, and part of another, it makes no real difference to me. It would be like me following some pony artwork and getting super offended at any Undertale or FNAF references.
 
Its no secret that a lot of furry artists are also good at drawing pony.

Because there is no consensus whatsoever on what ‘furry’ means, and ponies still overlap significantly with many peoples’ labels. Because they’re sapient, do human things, and generally are only horses because they’re shaped like them and sometimes do physical horse stuff.

But we all know one thing…

If we’re talking about characters, I disagree that ponies count in the slightest. It has to be a mostly human-styled body with animal features mixed in. Satyrs and Centaurs don’t count because the two aren’t mixed on the creature; each half is distinct.
 
When it comes to people who are “furries”, lifestyle is where it counts, I propose. Looking at, or even simply creating, “furry” art doesn’t pass the test on it’s own, but add in things like “fursonas”, “fursuits”, and any sort of “in-character” social interaction, and the threshold (and a line or two) is crossed.

Not all Pokemon fans are Furries either.

Furry covers pretty much anything that has to do with anthropomorphic animal characters with human intelligence. So technically Ponies can be considered a type of furry, However this doesn’t mean that Bronies are a part of the Furry fandom. Bronies have an exclusive interest solely in MLP whereas a Furfan would find interest in most, if not all things dealing with anthropomorphism.
 
As a Furnfan myself, I gotta say, I love Bronies. You guys are fun.
