I know I’d probably rage hard about however the cartoon ended up, but prior to said rage I’d also probably ride the C&H hype train off into the sunset. God, I love that comic.

Hahaha noooooooooooooo. If there were an official C&H cartoon in the works the entire internet would be eating its own face off about it; someone on Tumblr just animated one of the classic Sunday strips.

So now that G1 trademarks seem to no longer be an issue (that’s why so many people thought that a G4 Tirek would never happen)… Any other G1 villains whom you’d like to see reimagined for FiM?
 
Personally, I’m leaning towards Grogar, especially if they could get Steve Blum to do the voice (even though he’s not a Canadian actor).

I wasn’t as big a fan of the Giant Laser Fight as most seem to be, but overall it was a pretty great season finale. I’ve been stumping for a G4 Tirek since Season 3, so to have him not only return but to do so in a genuinely horrifying and inexorably grim fashion was just awesome. The sequence where he’s traveling around Equestria and basically stealing the spirits from everypony and there’s nothing anypony can do to stop him was just heartwrenching; that was some seriously heavy $#!+ for a show aimed at eight year old girls, not to mention that the princesses were literally sent straight to Hell. The show has established that a Pony’s cutie mark and personal magic are who they are, and he was just tearing that out of them and moving on to the next group of powerless victims, like a tornado with an agenda. Tirek was a genuinely dangerous villain, by far the biggest threat Equestria has ever faced onscreen, because once he was able to steal magic, he wasted absolutely zero time screwing around with standard cartoon villain nonsense, he just got right to work T-wreckin’ everything that got in his way. Discord showed up to stop him, and the first thing he does– no hesitation at all– is shoot Discord in the face; anyone but the Lord Of Chaos, and they woulda been straight up gibbed. Shining Armor, too– he’s a decent person so he led with a threat first, but when Tirek moved in he aimed for the head like a soldier.
 
I’ll forever be impressed that when the entire Equestrian Air Force- including all of its reserves– attacked Tirek head on, the third or fourth Pegasus back from the point of the spear was Derpy. She was the only civilian in the fight; a disabled woman from a little whistlestop town who had no training and would have been rejected for medical reasons if she tried to sign up for service saw that her country was under attack, and instead of fleeing or hiding, she got up and joined the attack right up front, like that was the most perfectly obvious thing in the world.
 
The Library was NOT OKAY, MAN. That $#!+ hurt.

And by the way (since I didn’t really pay all that much attention to the reaction after a certain point, so I have no idea what your initial reaction was, and despite some of our disagreements in the past, I like reading your thoughts on things), I’m a little curious: What did you think of the season 4 finale? I thought it was freaking awesome, though as I’ve stated elsewhere, I do wish Shining Armor had gotten to do more this season. I mean, it was pretty much a given that if he tried to stop Tirek, he’d just get his magic drained, but they could’ve really had an emotional moment if he had been defending the Princesses in the throne room…
