These are supposed to be sad. They explore the idea of a character being broken in an abusive relationship (the ones with the character fighting back don’t understand it).
 
That said, there SHOULD be a continuation into the “loving gestures” one.

I recall somewhere that crackle is supposed to be female.
 
Anyway, this is nicely done and shows emotion expression.
 
The act of removing a gem from her hide to try and give it to “him” when he says he hates her, as if to beg him to take it back, then the utter defeat of the final panel. It’s fantastic.
 
Getting emotions across with a non-human character can be very hard, especially one who is supposed to be silly.
