I actually liked most of the rest of the original story. It was really bitter sweet more than sad, but the horrifically sad ending to it all seemed a bit too much, especially since the solution you wrote into your ending was essentially what Celestia and Luna chose (or had done to them?) and it seemed to mostly work out for them.
Granted they tend to explode if certain things are mentioned to them, but really that is unlikely to be an issue for Lyra within her lifetime. And if it were she’d just explode and the secret would still be kept, no worse than what happened to her in my opinion.
Not sure if i really needed to spoiler that, but couldn’t hurt.

And to think that he wrote that fic to take a break from writing “End of Ponies”. Which also happens to be painfully bleak. How, um… cute!
