Ah, okay. Still though, even for casual friendship I wouldn’t mind a scene where Celestia/Luna/Cadance (probably Cadance) puts him in his place and gets him to open up more to those around him.

I could honestly see that as an episode topic in the future. Maybe a slightly more distant future, but still.  
Twi gets help from Cadance to find a suitor and all Twi gets are dukes and princes and other “high-up” pones, while all she wants is some normal-ish guy who likes her for who she is and not her title as princess.
