This strikes me as more of a Rarity thing. She’s the one who preemptively judges herself without having to have a lesson given to her by another.
Not always but more often than not.

I’m a bit late to the party, but I just recently discovered this ‘mouthpiece’ tag and a quick peek at the comments and up/down votes left it a bit ambiguous to me. Is mouthpiecing just slapping a slogan on a show character and does it still count even if it’s mostly in character for them to say it or is the practice just generally frowned upon?

Let’s say Twilight gets two sentences in a fanfic or an image like this one:
“It’s okay to acknowledge your mastery of a craft, but don’t be too proud to take advice.”
“Self-sacrifice can be far more valuable than following one’s own best interests.”

Are these considered mouthpiecing or staying in character?

Eh, if no one gets put in prison for stuff they did while being mind-raped by Discord, i cant see anyone justifying giving Trixie any punishment.

Honestly, the fuck is that Amulet doing outside of some kind of magic treasure vault? Either that thing only lends its powers to certain ponies (maybe Trixie passed some sort of test A) Magic B) Kinda a dick) or that shopkeeper is the most irresponsible pony in the world. It literally gives out insanity and omnipotence.

@RaineV1

How do we know that?

Trixie left to work on a farm. If shed been that angry at Twilight she probably would have done something beforehand. Assuming she doesnt know Twilight is Princess Fantastic (most ponies dont) theres no reason for her not to smack Twilight in the jaw if she felt like it.

Its never explained how or why Trixie goes from farm to amulet Amulet. I always assumed it called her there somehow (she looks rather like a dog seeking scent in canterlot - not someone looking for a shop they know its in) but we dont know.

Seems more likely she went to get it without thoughts of revenge, just thoughts of getting her respect back. And instead the insanity amulet motivated her to go Caligula on Twilight afterwards.

Dont get me wrong. Trixie is a real asshole. Shes power hungry, 100% selfish and comes across as kind of a sadist. But she doesnt actually DO anything wrong. Hell, she doesnt even take to using her powers (head and shoulders above anypony whos not Twi) to steal for herself. She acts a responsible adult and gets a job.

She may be unpleasant, but she didnt do jack to deserve what fate has handed her, and especially not when the mane6 have done worse and gotten away scot free.

Trixie got raped by karma. You can’t blame her for responding like that to such disproportionate retribution. She was a little mean, sure, but most stage performers are like that. It didn’t mean she deserved to lose her entire livelihood and become the laughingstock of half the country.

Even so, using an evil artifact to terrorize Ponyville in retaliation isn’t cool. It’s amazing she didn’t get locked up for it, willing user or not. Twilight’s cool like that I guess.

@clockworkinsomniac
Trixie held a grudge and even though the amulet corrupted her, she did buy it with every intention to screw with Twilight and her friends.

She could have just let it go. She could have approached Twilight and tried to learn from her to become a better magic user. Instead, she chose revenge. That was her mistake.

I figured you’d comment here…

Yeah, Trixie got hit by the Karma hammer like Mjölnir wielded by by a drunk and angry Thor. But even if a lot of what she did was excusable, justifiable or accidental in some way, she still caused trouble. What I think is important is that in the end she tried to do good, admitted her actions caused harm and apologized, directly.
clockworkinsomniac

What mistakes exactly did Trixie make?

Trixie made a tiny lie, like once, and got her house crushed in return. Rarity at the very least has since told WAY bigger lies and gotten away without cosmic space bears destroying the boutique and ruining her reputation.

And then she was driven insane by an evil amulet, after it either called out to her from the only job shes able to do, or she went looking for it to restore her own self-confidence.

(Barring Amulet madness)Trixie never made any noticeable mistakes or really did anything to anyone beyond hurting the mane6’s ego. She was kinda an asshole but last i checked that wasnt actually a crime (just ask Rainbow Dash). It basically just means no one wants to be your friend, and Trixie’s probably fine with that.

And yknow what? If the two episodes weve seen are an indication of how Trixie’s life usually goes, then she probably has good fucking reason to be an asshole. Her homes gone, her reputations been destroyed, shes been driven insane, lost all her money and shes met a pony who is better at her in every way at everything she wants out of life for more or less no reason than being a writer’s pet.

tl;dr - Trixie is owed some fucking karma already. If she goes Nightmare Moon on the world tomorrow i wouldnt bat an eye. Id probably applaud.
