“Up against”? I think that’s a bit incorrect, Trixie’s their Princess/queen in that one, even if she’s having to force dash to perform air shows to keep them appeased.
sure, they’ll probably end up getting pissy at the end and chasing her out, but for the most part they aren’t going to be antagonistic.
They are going to return in one of the Friends Forever comics, and they’ll be going up against RD and Trixie.

eh, but the diamond dogs seem to be treated as “good” guys in the short so not really liking it.

I saw it. I was more referring to the ‘real’ Diamond Dogs not returning yet.
Though it was nice to see them again. Let’s me know they weren’t forgotten by the show staff.
Yeah, shame ‘cause I liked the Diamond Dogs. They kinda reminded me of Moblins for some reason. Would love to see them return.
Also, the Diamond Dogs did sort of return in the official promotional Equestria Girls short Player Piano with Rarity. Give it a watch, it’s kinda amusing.
Flim-Flam brothers, Silver Spoon, and Diamond Tiara would be considered antagonists.
The Diamond Dogs would be considered villains as well, but they are rarely, if ever put into mash-ups. (They’re pretty much one of the most underused villains, but maybe that’s because they were just in season 1 for one episode.)
Missing some other villains to, but not sure if the Flim Flam Brothers, as well as Diamond Tiara, and Spoon count as villains. They’re more like minor-antagonists, or annoyances for the heroes.
