They are pacifist’s and are willing to take the more difficult road if it means no bloodshed. Just look at their track record with the villains, none of them have gotten killed.
They only defeated Discord with the Elements, and they got to Tirek before he could amass enough magic, thanks to the warning from Scorpan, his brother. With no Elements, and a fully powered Tirek and Discord, they wouldn’t stand a chance.
