Well, Celestia has in some interpretations done a thousand year all-nighter which she’s still not paid the bill for in proper sleep.
 
I suppose they won’t let themselves sleep at all until the crisis is over too.

Maybe they’re just too used to their magic, so when they don’t have it anymore, it feels like they don’t have any energy, even though they still do?

Well they did give up all of their magic and that extendends to more than just zap zap magic since earth and pega is connected to the body.  
Also you saw that huge ball of power and their bright white eyes, that kinda of power transfer is sure to have a huge drawback.

How come they’re still tired? By now it has been at least 12 hours since they gave away their magic. Haven’t they slept at all during this time? Is it that they’re starting to age and die without their magic?
