If selling out to Tirek was part of a plan, I am still convinced that losing his own powers to Tirek was not part of the plan. In my headcanon, in my verse where Discord is Q, the plan was for Tirek to be defeated by the power of friendship in a way that would allow him to learn a friendship lesson, setting him up to be the key-giver, because the fact that Tirek loved his brother means he’s not a complete 100% sociopath and Q is not a big fan of Tartarus. Q knew that Tirek would want to take his powers, but had no idea that he could actually do it. So this explains the bizarre coincidence of Discord’s advice about the keys turning out to be crucial, without denying Discord the character development of actually being betrayed and learning a lesson (the lesson here would be “don’t manipulate your friends like chess pieces”, not “don’t betray your friends”, but it’s still a friendship lesson). I don’t think the Tree would be fooled by Discord faking it.
 
But actually in some ways your headcanon’s pretty close to mine. In my stuff, an incarnate Q uses their psionic power to connect to the Continuum, allowing them to then draw on omnipotence. Tirek couldn’t steal the power of a Q, but he stole the power inherent in Discord’s body that allows Discord to connect to his Q powers. So that’s kind of like Discord has a supply of Chaos magic for Tirek to steal, except he didn’t let him do it.

The second part is my headcanon as well.  
(I just think that DisQord had a source of Chaos Magic that he let Tirek drain instead of his Q powers.)

The Q Continuum have weapons that can take out other Q. They can also cut off the powers of other Q. So actually this is kind of a non-issue; Tirek shows up, attempts to drain another Q, they pull out a Q gun and shoot him, he doesn’t dodge because he doesn’t realize he can be harmed by a weapon like that, end of story.
 
Kind of sad for Discord, who would probably be killed in the backwash because it was his powers (either that, or now his Q powers are gone forever), but if he was Q, who is telepathic, he REALLY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER. (That being said… if he’s Q, there’s no way he sincerely sold them out to Tirek. He was probably trying to manuever Twilight into position to get the sixth key, except he never foresaw Tirek could get his powers.)
