If the card were to be exhausted before the effect could be used, then you can’t exhaust the card to trigger it’s effect that turn without some sort of unexhaust.

If “exhausting” is like tapping in MTG, then note that this card enters play (enters play) exhausted. That means you have to wait a turn for it to untap unexhaust (?). You can’t use the effect right away after putting it down.

With any game where card powers are designed to break rules, these are written to make sure where other cards that may interrupt or could be played have their shot. There may be a card that could have a power that activates when any friend is exhausted, for example, which could then be played here.

I’m still not getting some of the game logic… Why exactly do you need to exhaust the card if you’re putting it into your hand anyway?
