Personally, I always found it to be a bit creepy when Rarity pulls back her eyelids, revealing the flesh underneath. I guess the animators added that little detail just to show how dangerously unhinged Rarity was becoming.

Yeah, I recognized the reference immediately, but then again, I’m 26, and I used to watch Family Matters and Saved by the Bell after school every day.
 
It was an awkward scene. Seeing characters known for being funny stereotypes sharing a serious moment. Kinda like when Screech and Zach got into a fight over Lisa.
 
…which was odd, because Zach never had feelings for Lisa before that episode…or anytime after it, I think…
 
…and they never talked about it being a (temporary) interracial relationship. You rarely saw that back then.
