That’s stupid.  
Sure, it makes it all the more relatable when you can SEE the character’s emotions rather than have him/her or someone just “state” them, but that doesn’t apply when you CAN literally see drama queen herself show her anguish together with her oh-so dramatic statement. Its only bad when the acting/voiceacting is so bad that you NEED to have the person state his/her emotional state or you wouldn’t be able to tell…but that DOESN’T in any way apply to Rarity who’s excellent at portraying her emotions (thi one in particular).

This line in the show was fine - it was part of a wordplay where Rarity was saying her efforts were a miserable failure, which makes her miserable too.
