Alex strikes me as the type to naturally excel in athletics, something that her mother praises her for, but who also secretly loves of all that “dweeb stuff” that Gilda disapproves of, even though it doesn’t come as naturally to her. Sometimes, she stays up late with the books her father has bought her on the sly, studying while her mother’s asleep.
