A thought of trying to see what SStB’s CM was from the latest comic, and while most ever shot of him has his cape covering his flank, or putting it in shadow, this shot I would figure that his mark should be at least PARTIALLY visible.
Of course, this could be to avoid creating canon to be destroyed by the show (much how one cover for FF#3 hints at the semi-canon/fanon names of Twilight’s parents by having a hoof covering the bulk of the names)

Or he tried experimenting with a Cutie Mark related spell that caused his to become invisible

The first 48 hours after the marks started appearing were… messy.
And when they first started to appear, I bet alot of ponies would have been panicky and superstitious about them…
#storyoftheblanks
Right, they were actually invented by Discord just to mess with people. That’s why they actually have random pictures.
j/k
Seaponies have always been depicted as similar to seahorses, not merfolk. It makes far more sense to continue to depict them as such than to redesign them as pony/fish hybrids.
The comics are canon. To the comics. The proper term is in continuity.
Given that the comics seemed to eject the events of Luna Eclipsed during the second arc, I wouldn’t say that they are going through extreme measures to fit with the show, and the show sure as heck isn’t budging to fit with the comic.
Note: I like the comics, and think that being out of continuity with the cartoon would give it more storytelling possibilities. As far as I’m concerned, being restricted to maintaining continuity with the cartoon would be a bad thing.
As for Star Swirl not having a visible cutie mark, there have been more than a couple of ponies missing a mark in the cartoon. Not a big deal.
And you know those numerous ppl involed in show make give shitload of mistakes in episodes approve :D?
Nice, go and RIGquit. Getting nowhere anyway.
>the book looked cool
there, something we don’t agree <_<
better never discuss about this again.
The book looked cool, the first designs didn’t work. Seaponies have never had front hooves.
the proto-mermares looked g4, it was hasbro who wanted them to look like the g3 freaks from that book.
It means that if the show wants to do something, the comic has to change. They had to redo Rarity’s Micro because it essentially had the plot of Rarity Takes Manehattan.
That and the redesign of seaponies/mermares to fit the G4 depictions.
what is that suppose to mean?
You realize that numerous people involved in the show make sure everything works, right?
To add, every shot that one definitely would see the CM has the flank purposely in shadow, so I do think they avoided it on purpose, this shot being the exception (or just easier to leave out here)
