Say what you want, but I kinda like this pic. Being used to reading doujins where the typical mean fat otaku does bad thingies to the girl, and then you have this where he is just so… overwhelmed. Both of them are. I find it pretty cute.

This is not a “hate drawing”
 
I wanted to express how to a cartoon, human flesh could be an object of worship in the same way cartoon cg “flesh” is an object of worship for humans. I drew the fat otaku to evoque the primitive venus sculptures of the distant past
 
with a huge round belly to suggest “heaven” (which is most often portrayed as a circle in most cultures) and to look also like comicbook thought balloon, something Lyra dreams about and craves, something she wants to touch, but that is also a product of her desire (“In the same we build God because we desire him, he builds us because he desires us” would be the thought I´m trying to explore here). The lyra is a musical instrument linked to angels often, maybe angels could be fascinated by fisical flesh, seing as how they don´t have it. Of course the otaku type looks very decadent but it´s not meant to be read as a jab at the fandom (I am of course a fan myself). Notice the cross of light in the corner. The cross signifies the meeting point between the fisical world(horizontal) and the spiritual dimension (vertical) So this acts a bit as a joke, celebrating the “redemption” (thru cartoon love) of flesh in its most decadent state. Similar emphasis on flesh as a problem is made in christian art, where Jesus is often drawn as a rotting, tortured body. Looking at it now it occurs to me that otaku and monks are similar in the way they seek to trascend this world, and forget their bodies (of course not all monks or otaku go about it in the same way).
