Seriously though, No offense intended to Larson (like he’d even see this), he is after all my favorite writer on the staff. I just never got to make a Thanks Larson joke and thought this was the best way to do it.
Yep. All that build up for a dumb joke like that. Sorry if I got your hopes up. I’m not the really suspenseful type. That’s why I make comics and not fanfiction.

Echo chamber nothing. I don’t agree with everything they said, but Twilight’s princess status has definitely left a lot to be desired so far.
I know right? It’s so cringeworthy.
To be honest, I’m really getting ticked at the sueness of Twilight. I’m not sure if this is Hasbro’s doing or McCarthy. I kinda agree with that statement that theorizes McCarthy sees herself as Twilight and Lauren Faust as Celestia where Twilight’s elevation to alicornhood is McCarthy’s ascension to the show’s head writer/director/omnipresent entity that controls everything that isn’t under Hasbro’s control.
This Rainbow Power just annoys. It’s not the “girly” aspect since a good writer can make it work. What annoys me is the “reverse captain planet” where I get the connotation of “by my will as ‘Princess Twilight Sparkle, the princess of friendship and magic and such’ I grant unto you my powers of rainbow magical friendship.”
well, I don’t think hasbro would feel Elitist about others besides Twilight being alicorns; Hasbro really doesn’t care about which pony is which.
McCarthy on the other hand, yeah, I don’t think she would want the other 5 to be alicorns, as twilight is her special sue. So the odds of the mane six becoming alicorns is roughly zero IMO. I figure Rainbow power is her way of throwing the other 5 a bone with a Reward without it being alicorn status.
On that note, Damn, its crazy when you think about it, but, prior to PTS2, The last time the mane six were relevant to defeating a villain or solving a problem in a premier/finale was all the way back in Season 2’s premier with discord. After that it was either twilight or Cadence/shining armor doing the actual work.
on another note though, I gotta wonder about rainbow power: Twilight has her element of magic crown in the Rainbow power vectors, but the other 5 don’t seem to have their EOH necklaces.
So i’m wondering if she and only she is getting her EOH back, or if that element of magic crown is just something being shown for toy advertisements?
It’s probably true. I’m just preparing myself in-case they, Hasbro or the writers, decide to do a “wow, we fooled you” switch at the end. That background could just be for atmosphere.

To be honest, I fear for MLPFIM. It really feels like Hasbro is slowly and surely constricting their grasp around the neck of the show and DHX’s creative freedoms. That Twilight Time episode, along with the opener, felt like it was 70% written by Hasbro with the other % written by DHX. I hope that DHX maintains control of the episodes and they can produce some quality stuff since it’s hard for me to find decent material to watch as of late. I do worry that balance the show struck between product placement and story driven entertainment will be destroyed, and what we will see is another Spongebob show where new episodes are just cranked out for the masses and dipping in quality as they try to sell more product.
This whole “rainbow ponies” thing kinda sickens me and leaves a bad taste. I would expect Hasbro to turn the rest of the mane6 into alicorns, but they are probably feeling too elitist where Twilight is the only one who deserves such a “great honor” and the rest of her friends should be lucky enough to be friends with a powerful princess.
Gah. Toy-driven storylines are getting out of control.
I think that the Princesses castle in the everfree forest is going to be Twilight’s now, not Luna and celestia’s though:
Twilight’s rainbow castle playset’s Images that they have up as background images behind it look like the tree of harmony grew up around/into a structure, and since it appears the tree of harmony is below their castle more or less…
so personally, I think twilight’s new castle is going to be the royal sisters castle.
To be honest, I have to agree that is one prime reason for me disliking Twilight’s little ascension. Part of me cringed when I saw the adorkable little pony doing Princess Heartbutt’s “calming” technique in that episode from S3.
In the end, pretty, pretty Princess Twilight could be being groomed to take over Celestia’s position in Canterlot. Celestia + Luna take over their old castle in the Everfree Forest, and it is revealed that Celestia had a vision/idea that a pony like Twilight would come. That is the reason Canterlot exists.
Twilight in season 1 and Season 2 was WAY more flawed than she currently is, and had a host of neurosis’s and Mental breakdowns that made her adorkable.
Since McCarthy took over from Faust and renzetti Twilight’s lost most all of her flaws and is treated like a paragon: she hasn’t gone batshit crazy like in season 1/2 since… well, seasons 1/2.
Of course that began before she was an alicorn so its more McCarthy making her too perfect (favorite pony and all), though I suppose she might have done so to make her “worthy” of being a princess (never mind that Luna has a crapton of flaws and is a princess)
