Actually, the ancient Pegasi were basically a G-rated portrayal of ancient Sparta and Rome, two major warrior cultures, much like the Klingons. In fact, Pegasi are still militaristic to some extent. Just look at the Wonderbolts. Besides, Rainbow Dash would be a much better fit as a Klingon than Twilight would.
Now the Vogons, on the other hand… THAT would be the least pony-like alien species.
But still, the art isn’t half bad.
