She may come up with the plans, but she doesn’t write the scripts.
But be that as it may, I just think they have too much misconstrued information of what is “special” and who by social standards are “not special” which sadly a lot of kids’ parents tend to negatively enforce even if they don’t always intend for these sort of behaviors to spawn from their teachings.
I think Diamond values Silver Spoon a lot, so much so that if Silver, like I did with my own friend whom I didn’t know was so brutish with other people (and we did fight a few times), if she stood up to Diamond even once with how close their ties are I believe DT would come around to accept that picking on them, something which Silver has been constantly shown to relish in, since it can be funny laughing at others’ expense when you’re young thinking it not that big a deal at the time, would probably back off and even choose to back off and give them space, or do what my friend did and eventually get to know a couple of the friends I had that I didn’t know he was so against before and actually enjoy himself more.
Diamond gets it bad because the show needs her to be seen only in one light, something despite those efforts have still left in evidence to the contrary of her just being a flat character.
TL;DR: If Silver ever had a friend DT made fun of, in this case Sweetie Belle and Silver stood up and told Diamond how she truly felt and gave DT the choice to either tolerate her being friends with one of the CMC, or not calling her a friend anymore? I can say with how the current show is set up, that DT would certainly prefer making friends with the Goofy Mark Goofsaders than lose her best friend.
We all have friends, and believe me, not all of them will get along well with each other. Just gotta learn to balance shit out and respect that some of them just would rather wait to spend time with just you or maybe just move on. That’s life. For the most part, I can say that my experience with a sort of Diamond Tiara archtype in a way, would be that they tolerated people for my sake more than their own. But mainly because they actually valued me as a friend.
And that’s how I sort of relate to Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara. I may not have been a bully, but I had a chance to make a difference with one who to this very day is someone I call a true friend. I like to think we both grew stronger in different ways by being so open about stuff.
I guess this probably won’t mean much to most people, especially for those who have had the misfortune of being bullied, but people are only as mean as the company they keep. So, if Silver really is as patient and tolerant as some of her fans believe her to be, I think there is plenty of hope for Diamond and her to turn around.
Honestly, she doesn’t personally strike me as being particularly bitchy, at least, not on her own- if you note, nearly everything mean is Tiara’s idea.
I suppose that’s better than my interpretation that SS is Ponyville’s coke dealer.
I interpret Spoon’s spoon as a talent for being a high-level minion. Spoons just can’t do much on their own, and in a fancy place setting, there’s like five of them.
That, or a talent for subtext, measuring out inflection and nonverbal cues in a way that she can say volumes with a single word.
Either way, it does seem to be a case of Bitchy Powers, Bitchy Pony.
I’m generally very skeptical about supporting characters getting the spotlight in an episode, but I, too, would love an episode dealing with Silver Spoon questioning whether she should continue following Diamond Tiara. (Though I would want it near the end of the series’ run…)
Seeing her pushed out of that comfortable, if limiting and somewhat self-destructive position and being forced to grow and find other, healthier people to be in her life would be an interesting story.
I’m partial
NEVER!!!
Anyway, I’m all for Silver Spoon turning good.
